It’s spooky season, and we are officially moving into the holidays! Isn’t it crazy how fast time is moving? Before we know it, the year will be over. Honestly, that makes me nervous and scared because I feel like I have a lot to accomplish before the year ends.
Back in August, when I first talked about losing weight on this blog, I set a goal to lose 30 pounds by the end of the year.
I want to keep working toward that goal, and I want to stay raw and honest about my journey here. I want to genuinely improve my health espeically since i am still young. I know that as i get older, losing weight and maintaining a good health can be more difficult. I want to start taking better care of myself, building better habits, and making my future self better.
In my september update I talked about how active i was becoming in sports like badminton, tennies and picklball/ I want to find ways to exercise that were actually fun instead of corfing myself to do something i hated.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go exactly as planned.
Between my physics class and the stress that came with it, my eczema started giving me a hard time. I had to temporarily stop exercising so i could focus on getting my skin under control and more improtanlty passing my physics class.
I had a setback mostly towards the end of September. It was my mommy’s birthday, and we celebrated by eating junk food for about two weeks. That, combined with the stress of studying, meant I wasn’t making the healthiest choices. By the beginning of October, I had gained around five to six pounds.
I was hitting 229 pounds before, but suddenly I shot back up to 235.
235!
After I ate, I was getting dangerously close to 240, and it shook me to my core. I mean all the hard work i had been putting in, just to go back to square one.
It was frustrating to see the number go up after trying so hard to bring it back down. I know weight fluctuates, and I know one setback doesn’t erase all my progress, but it still sucks when you see the scale moving in the opposite direction from where you want it to go.
For a moment it felt like all my effort had gone to waste. But i knew i couldnt just give up.
I began to exercise one again. And my exercising I mean going to the park and trying to hit all the 10,000 steps i missed when I was out celebrating for my mother. I’m also trying to eat mindfully, limit how much food I take in, and be more mindful of what I eat.
I don’t want to starve myself or do anything extreme. I just want to build better habits and be more consistent.
Although I promised myself I would lose 30 pounds by the end of the year, there are times where it seems so far and I wonder if i can actually do it. Sometimes it feels unreachable.
But I remind myself that I still have time, and I can and will continue working on it. I might not be where I wanted to be at this point of the year, but that doesn’t mean I should stop trying.
I want to prove to myself that I can stick with something even when things don’t go according to plan. I want to stop letting one setback turn into an excuse to give up completely.
Even if my progress is slow, I’ll keep going.
On top of it all, I recently reminded my older sibling that we were supposed to lock in for 2027. Why, you may ask.
Well, I have a couple of reasons.
First, The Summer I Turned Pretty movie is coming out, and I want both of us to look great when we watch it. That was one of our goals: to lose weight and work toward more by the time the movie comes out.
The second reason is that my sibling and I have been big Minecraft players since 2014. When been playing for years. (Just don’t ask us if we fought the dragon) When we heard that there was going to be a Minecraft experience coming to London in 2027, I thought it was so cool.
Unfortunately, I probably can’t go because of my sonography classes. But even if I can’t attend, I still want to work on my health so I can feel confident taking pictures or doing something related to it.
I know losing weight isn’t just about looking good in photos, but I’d be lying if that wasn’t part of my motivation. I want to feel comfortable in my own skin, and I want to look back at pictures without feeling insecure about how I look.
And speaking of feeling uncomfortable, my final reason is:
I’m tired of barely fitting into my school scrubs.
The shirt is fine, but the pants are a whole different story. The material doesn’t stretch much, and I hate how uncomfortable they feel when I move around or sit.
Sometimes I genuinely feel like the pants are going to rip. I hate having to worry about something as simple as sitting in class because of my scrub pants. It makes me self-conscious, and I end up feeling uncomfortable in my own body when I should feel comfortable in my scrubs.
I don’t want to keep feeling this way. I want to wear scrubs comfortably without constantly worrying whether the material will give out on me.
That alone motivates me to keep going.
For my October update, I want to be honest: although I gained weight compared to last month, I have been trying to get back on track. I have been slowly working my way down, and I hope I am moving in the right direction.
My sibling and i have also turned this while weight los jonrye into a little competition. Basically, whoever loses 30 pounds first wins.
And yes, there is a prize involved. I asked for one calico critter surprise toy. ONE!
Meanwhile, my sibling bet that I would have to wash the dishes for an entire month if I lost.
A MONTH.
I genuinely thought it was unfair because it was a whole month! I tried talking them down to two weeks, but they refused to budge.
I’m going to really try to lose weight because I do NOT want to wash dishes for an entire month.
I just want a small calcio critter surpuirse toy and yet somehow i feel like im risking my freedom for the kitchen sink.
Hoping I win because dishes for a month is crazy.
Wish me luck, y’all!
With the holidays coming up, I know things might get a little difficult again. There will be more celebrations, more food, and more opportunities to eat this, and it might not fit into the habits I’m trying to build.
I dont want to spend the holidays feeling guilt everytime i eat something i enjoy, but i do want to be more minedul and avoid overdoing it.
I’m still trying to find a balance between enjoying myself and straight up neglecting myself. I know i wont be perfect and im probably going to have days when i eat more than i planend or dont get enough stps in.
But I want to keep going instead of letting those days discourage me.
My goal will be to lose 30 pounds. Even though I’m nervous about whether I can reach it by the end of the year, I want to give myself the best shot.
I started this journey because I want to feel healthier and be confident in who I am. I can keep my bad habits until I’m older.
And of course, win a surprise toy.
So here’s to getting back on track, taking things one day at a time, and hopefully making some progress before the year ends. Maybe at least 225 by December!
Wish me huge luck!
